NUMBER: 14-004-06 REV. AGROUP: Fuel
DATE: October 11, 2006
THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 14-004-06, DATED JUNE 8, 2006, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. ALL REVISIONS ARE HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS** AND INCLUDE A BUILD DATE.
SUBJECT:
Fuel Economy/Performance Operation Feature
MODELS:
2007 (PM) Caliber
2007 (MK) Compass
NOTE:
This feature only applies to vehicles equipped with an Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) sales code DAV **built before November 2, 2006 (MDH1102XX)**.
DISCUSSION:
Caliber and Compass models are equipped with a fuel economy/performance operation feature. This feature provides a noticeable detent (bump/step) in accelerator pedal movement that is just shy of wide open throttle. Pressing the accelerator pedal past this detent changes the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) calibration to a "maximum performance" mode. Keeping the accelerator pedal before (shy of) this detent keeps the vehicle in an "economy mode" of operation. The change from economy to performance is most noticeable at speeds above 80 kph (50 mph).
**The pedal detent will be removed from vehicles built after November 2, 2006.**
