SUBJECT:
Accelerator Pedal Bushings

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin is regarding sticking accelerator pedals and involves inspecting the accelerator pedal assembly bushings and if necessary replacing the accelerator pedal assembly.

MODELS:

2007 (PM) Caliber

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to Left Hand Drive models equipped with a CVT automatic transmission (Sales Code DAV or DHD) built between March 1, 2006 and April 30, 2006 (MDH 0301XX to 0430XX)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a loose or sticking accelerator pedal. This could cause the vehicle to react differently than expected.

DISCUSSION:
As communicated in Advanced Field Action Communication K00050310, the National Highway & Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has notified Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) that it is investigating a potential condition with 2007 model year Dodge Caliber sticking accelerator pedals.

Chrysler has stated that customers who own a 2007 model year Dodge Caliber with an automatic transmission built between March 1, 2006 through April 31, 2006 may visit their local Dodge dealer for a free accelerator pedal inspection or replacement. Vehicles with manual transmissions are not built with the same accelerator pedal in question and are not included.

NOTE:
If a customer of a 2007 model year Dodge Caliber with automatic transmission built outside the build range still wishes to have their vehicle inspected, dealers may conduct the inspection.

If a customer brings their vehicle in for a sticking accelerator pedal concern, follow the Inspection Procedure and if necessary replace the accelerator pedal assembly.
