Exhaust System - Moan Sound At 2,300-2,500 RPM

SUBJECT:
Moan Sound At 2300 to 2500 RPM Under Moderate Throttle

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the exhaust mid-pipe isolator and re-torquing the mid-pipe clamp.

MODELS:

2007 (PM) Caliber

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a naturally aspirated engine built before 3/20/2006 (MDH 0320XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
During moderate throttle a moan sound may be heard between 2300 to 2500 rpm.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator describes or experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.





2. Replace the mid-pipe isolator (p/n 04766177AA).

3. Loosen the mid-pipe clamp and then re-torque the bolt to 55 N.m (40 Ft.Lbs.).

4. Lower the vehicle.
