Body - Whistle Sound From L/H Door Mirror

SUBJECT:
Whistle Sound on Left Side of Vehicle

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves making modifications to the Left mirror.

MODELS:

**2007 - 2008** (PM) Caliber

NOTE:
**This information applies to vehicles built prior to August 10, 2007 (MDH0810XX).**

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience a whistle sound from the left side of the vehicle. The customer may indicate that the sound is coming from the window area or mirror. This sound may be caused by a tab located on the door mating surface of mirror assembly.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the sound is described or experienced, perform the Repair Procedure.





SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Using a trim stick, remove the upper flag cover and upper door trim cover to gain access to the mirror fasteners. Disconnect the wiring connector and remove the mirror.





2. Lift the gasket off the (hard plastic) tab located on the inner upper corner of the mirror (Fig. 1).

3. Using a knife, cut the tab off flush with the inner surface (Fig 1).

4. When reinstalling the mirror, assure the rubber gasket is positioned properly. Insert mirror into its opening, reconnect the wiring connector and torque the fasteners to 5 Nm (4 ft lbs.).

5. Install the trim covers.

6. Attempt to verify the whistle sound has been repaired.
