DISCUSSION:

If a cell phone which is turned on is stored in the cubby bin directly below the radio, it may cause static from the speaker(s). This is not a radio or speaker malfunction. The condition may be lessened or eliminated by relocating the cellular phone to another location.

Some types of cell phones are known to cause this problem while the phone is turned on and operating in extended range mode.
