Engine Torque Specifications
TORQUE
Cylinder head bolts
Should be examined BEFORE reuse. If the threads are necked down, the bolts should be replaced (Fig. 24).
Cylinder head bolts
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in (Fig. 26). Using the 4 step torque-turn method, tighten according to the following values:
First: All to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
Second: All to 82 Nm (60 ft. lbs.)
Third: All to 82 Nm (60 ft. lbs.)
CAUTION: Do not use a torque wrench for the Fourth step.
Fourth: Turn all bolts an additional 1/4 Turn.
Intake Manifold
Tighten fasteners to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.).
Camshaft bearing caps
Install right and left camshaft bearing caps No. 2 - 5 and right No. 6.
Tighten M6 fasteners to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)
Tighten M8 fasteners to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.).
Tighten in sequence shown in (Fig. 35).
Crankshaft Main bearing Caps
Install and tighten bolts (1-10)
Tighten in sequence shown (Fig. 61).
Tighten to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
Tighten bolts (1-10) again to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
Tighten in sequence shown.
Install main bearing bed plate to engine block bolts (11-20)
Torque each bolt to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.)
Tighten in sequence shown.
Tighten bolts (1-10) to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.)
Tighten in sequence shown.
Tighten bolts (11-20) again to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.)
Tighten in sequence shown.
Connecting rod bearings and caps
Do Not Reuse Connecting Rod Bolts
