Side Impact Airbag Control Module
WARNING: THE MODULES CANNOT BE INTERCHANGED. THEY ARE UNIQUE TO EACH SIDE. FAILURE TO INSTALL THEM PROPERLY COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.REMOVAL
The removal and installation of the driver and passenger side modules is identical. The orientation of the modules is the only difference.
1. Open hood.
Battery Negative Cable Remove/Install:
2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
3. Wait two minutes for the system reserve capacitor to discharge before servicing any airbag components.
4. Remove the door sill trim from the appropriate side of the vehicle.
5. Peel back carpet to gain access to the retaining screws.
Side Impact Airbag Control Module (SIACM) Location:
6. Remove the SIACM retaining screws .
7. Disconnect the SIACM electrical connector.
8. Remove the SIACM from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
The removal and installation of the driver and passenger side modules is identical. The orientation of the modules is the only difference.
1. Connect the SIACM electrical connector.
2. Position the SIACM below the front door sill and install the retaining screws. Torque the nuts to 15 Nm (135 in. lbs.).
3. Install the door sill trim on the appropriate side of the vehicle.
WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE. REFER TO ELECTRICAL, RESTRAINTS, DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - AIRBAG SYSTEM FIRST. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
4. Close hood.
5. Verify vehicle and system operation.
