NUMBER: 08-019-01GROUP: Electrical
DATE: Sep. 28, 2001
SUBJECT:
Vehicle Theft Alarm Disarming
MODELS:
2002 (PL) Neon
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO AUGUST 31, 2001 (MDH 0831XX) EQUIPPED WITH A FRONT PASSENGER DOOR KEY LOCK CYLINDER.
DISCUSSION:
Effective with the 2002 model year, all Neon vehicles equipped with Vehicle Theft Alarm (Sales Code LSA) will no longer "disarm" or "arm" the alarm from the front passenger door using the key. In addition "Central Locking" is not available from the passenger door.
Vehicles built after August 31, 2001 will not have a lock cylinder in the front passenger door. Therefore, only vehicles built before August 31, 2001 with a passenger door lock cylinder may be a concern to vehicle owners. If an owner is concerned that he/she cannot "disarm" the VTA from the passenger door lock cylinder the following disarming instructions are provided, or the vehicle may be updated to the current production configuration by removing the passenger door lock cylinder. To remove the passenger door lock cylinder perform the Repair Procedure.
Vehicle Theft Alarm may be disarmed as follows:
1. Key Fob
a. Press Unlock
2. SKIM Key
a. Unlock Drivers Door
b. Insert SKIM Key in ignition and move to "RUN" position
