Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Remove air inlet resonator as described.
3. Remove the throttle control shield.

Disconnecting Throttle Cable:




4. Remove throttle cable from the throttle body lever.
5. Compress the retaining tabs on the cable and slide cable out of bracket.
6. If equipped with speed control, remove speed control cable from throttle lever by sliding clasp out hole used for throttle cable.
7. Remove EVAP purge hose from nipple on throttle body.
8. Remove 2 screws holding cable mounting bracket and support bracket.
9. Remove throttle body mounting bolts.
10. Lift throttle body far enough to remove connectors from the throttle position sensor and idle air control motor. Remove throttle body.

Re-Usable Throttle Body Gasket:




11. The rubber O-ring gasket on the intake manifold is reusable.

INSTALLATION
1. Attach electrical connectors to idle air control motor and throttle position sensor.
2. Position throttle body on intake and install mounting bolts. Do Not tighten bolts at this time.
3. Install throttle cable bracket. Do Not tighten bolts at this time.
4. Tighten throttle body bolts to 28.5 ± 4 Nm (250 ± 35 in. lbs.) torque.
5. Tighten throttle cable bracket bolts to 11.75 ± 2.25 Nm (105 ± 20 in. lbs.) torque.
6. Install EVAP purge hose to throttle body nipple.
7. Install cable housing(s) retainer tabs into bracket.
8. Install throttle body cables by rotating the throttle lever forward to the wide open position.
9. Install air inlet resonator as describe.
10. Install throttle control shield. Tighten screw to 5.6 Nm (50 in. lbs.).
11. Install the negative battery cable.
