With Antilock Brakes

NOTE: Before proceeding, review Service Precautions, Vehicle Damage Warnings.

CAUTION: Proportioning valves should never be disassembled.

This procedure is for removal and installation of one of the two proportioning valves mounted on this vehicle equipped with ABS.

REMOVAL






1. Remove chassis brake from proportioning valve controlling the rear wheel of the vehicle which has premature wheel skid.






CAUTION: When removing proportioning valve from flex hose place wrench on proportioning valve not adapter fitting. The adapter fitting is not to be removed from the proportioning valve.

2. Remove proportioning valve from brake flex hose.

INSTALLATION






1. Install proportioning valve on brake flex hose. Tighten proportioning valve to a torque of 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.)






2. Install brake tube on proportioning valve. Tighten tube nuts to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.) torque.
3. Bleed the affected brake line. See Brakes, Brake Bleeding, Service and Repair, Service Procedures for proper bleeding procedure.
