Blower Motor - Vibration/Noise

Vibration Or Noise From HVAC Blower Motor

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves removing debris from the HVAC blower motor and cowl plenum.
Installing new cowl plenum screens and fender to hood hinge seals.

MODELS:

2000 (PL) Neon

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Vibration or noise from the HVAC blower motor, caused by debris entering the motor through the cowl plenum.

DIAGNOSIS:
Turn the A/C system to high position. If the fluttering noise is heard with the air conditioning on, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 05008136AB Seal, Fender To Hood Hinge (Right)
1 05008137AB Seal, Fender To Hood Hinge (Left)
1 05291554AA Screen, Cowl Plenum (Right)
1 05291555AA Screen, Cowl Plenum (Left)

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the HVAC blower motor following the procedure in the 2000 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-0025) beginning on page 24-21.

2. Remove any debris which is found in the HVAC blower motor.

3. Remove both wiper arm assemblies following the procedure in the 2000 Neon Service Manual (Publication No.81-270-0025) beginning on page 8K-5.





4. Remove the cowl plenum to hood weatherstrip (Figure 1).

5. Remove the left and right fender to hood hinge seals (Figure 1).

6. Remove the cowl top screen assembly following the procedure in the 2000 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-0025) beginning on page 23-27.

7. Remove any debris found in the cowl plenum.

8. Install the HVAC blower motor following the procedure in the 2000 Neon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-0025) beginning on page 24-21.

9. Operate the HVAC blower motor to verify that all debris has been removed.





10. Install the new cowl plenum screens into the holes in the cowl plenum reinforcement as shown in Figure 2.

11. Install the cowl top screen assembly.

12. Install the new fender to hood hinge seals.

13. Install the cowl plenum to hood weatherstrip.

14. Install the wiper arm assemblies.
