Rear

REMOVAL
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly from the vehicle.

Hydraulic Flex Hose Bracket Attachment To Strut:

3. Remove the hydraulic flex hose bracket from the rear strut bracket. If the vehicle is equipped with Antilock brakes, the wheel speed sensor cable routing clip is also attached to the strut assembly bracket.
4. Support the rear knuckle, suspension and brake components of the vehicle before removing the clevis bracket-to-knuckle attaching bolts. Do not let weight of rear knuckle and assembled components hang unsupported when strut is removed.

CAUTION: The strut clevis bracket-to-knuckle attaching bolts are serrated and must not be turned during removal. Remove nuts while holding bolts stationary in knuckle.

Knuckle To Clevis Bracket Bolts:

5. Remove the 2 clevis bracket bolts attaching the strut assembly to the rear knuckle.
6. Lower the vehicle until the tire and wheel assemblies are just clearing the floor. Access to rear upper strut mount attaching bolts is through the trunk of the vehicle.

Dust Shield Removal Form Strut Tower:

7. Remove the carpet (if required) from the top of the strut tower. Remove the rubber dust shield from top of strut tower. This will allow easier access to the upper strut mount attaching nuts.

Strut Mount Attaching Nuts:

8. Loosen, but do not remove, the 4 upper strut mount-to-strut tower attaching nuts. Then while supporting the strut assembly fully, remove the 4 attaching nuts.
9. Remove the strut assembly from the knuckle by sliding the knuckle out of the clevis bracket on the strut assembly. Then remove strut assembly from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the strut assembly back into the vehicle with the 4 studs on the strut mount through the holes in the strut tower. Install the 4 strut mount attaching nuts onto the mount studs. Torque the 4 strut mount attaching nuts to 34 Nm (300 inch lbs.).
2. Install the dust shield into the hole on top of the strut tower. Install the carpeting back on top of the rear strut tower.
3. Raise the vehicle.

CAUTION: The knuckle to strut assembly attaching bolts are serrated and must not be turned during installation. Install and torque nuts while holding bolts stationary in knuckle.

4. Install the knuckle assembly into clevis bracket on strut assembly. Install the 2 clevis bracket-to-knuckle attaching bolts and nuts. Torque both attaching nuts to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the hydraulic flex hose bracket on strut assembly bracket. Install and securely tighten the bolt attaching the hose bracket to the strut bracket. If vehicle is equipped with Antilock brakes, the wheel speed sensor cable routing clip is also attached to the strut assembly bracket at this time.
6. Install the wheel and tire assembly on vehicle. Tighten the wheel mounting stud nuts in proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half specification. Then repeat tightening sequence to full specified torque of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
7. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
8. Set the rear toe on the vehicle to the required specification if necessary. Refer to Alignment.
