Stabilizer Bushing: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Raise the vehicle.
Sway Bar To Frame Rail Retainers:
2. Remove the bolts, then remove the 2 stabilizer bar to rear frame rail retainers.
3. Lower the center of the stabilizer bar. Remove the stabilizer bar bushings from the bar by opening the slits in the bushings and peeling them off the bar.
INSTALLATION
Bushings Correctly Installed On Stabilizer Bar:
1. Install the stabilizer bar bushings on the bar by opening the slits in the bushings and sliding them on the stabilizer bar at the portion of the bar which comes closest to each frame rail. When the bushings are installed on the stabilizer bar, the slit in the bushing must face the rear of the vehicle.
2. Position the stabilizer bar so it is centered in the vehicle and does not contact other suspension components or the vehicle under body. Raise the stabilizer bar to the frame rail and install the 2 stabilizer bar to frame rail retainers. Loosely install both retainer attaching bolts.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. With the suspension at curb height, securely tighten the stabilizer bar retainer to frame rail attaching bolts to a torque of 34 Nm (300 inch lbs.).
