Lower Control Arm Front Isolator Bushing
NOTE: The removal and installation of the lower ball joint, front isolator bushing, and rear isolator bushing from the lower control arm is only to be done with the lower control arm removed from the vehicle.Special Tools Assembled For Removing Front Bushing:
1. Mount Remover/Installer, Special Tool C-4212-F, in a vise as shown. Install Bushing Remover, Special Tool 6804, and Bushing Receiver, Special Tool 6758, on Special Tool C-4212-F.
Removing Front Bushing From Control Arm:
2. Install the lower control arm in Special Tool C-4212-F as shown. Be sure Special Tool 6758 is square on the lower control arm and Special Tool 6804 is positioned correctly on the isolator bushing.
3. Tighten the screw on Special Tool C-4212-F to press the front bushing out of the lower control arm. Remove the bushing and the lower control arm from Special Tool C-4212-F.
Special Tools Assembled For Installing Front Bushing:
4. Mount Installer Cup, Special Tool C-4212-3 on the Remover/Installer, Special Tool C-4212-F. Mount Bushing Installer, Special Tool 6810, on the screw portion of Special Tool C-4212-F.
Installation Direction Of Lower Control Arm Front Bushing:
5. By hand, start the front isolator bushing into the lower control arm. The bushing is to be installed in lower control arm from the machined surface side (front) of the lower control arm bushing hole.
Front Bushing Installation:
6. Install lower control arm in Special Tool C-4212-F as shown. Special Tool 6810 should be positioned to press the bushing into the arm from the front of the arm. Special Tool 6810 should sit squarely against the outer rim of the isolator bushing.
Installed Position Of Lower Control Arm Front Bushing:
7. Tighten screw on Special Tool C-4212-F pressing the front bushing into the lower control arm. Continue pressing front bushing into lower control arm until the bushing is sitting flush on the machined surface of the lower control arm. Remove the lower control arm from the special tools.
8. Install the lower control arm on the vehicle.
