Windshield Wiper on/Off Delay Control Open or Shorted Low

Continuously

SET CONDITION
BCM detects a low (ground) signal on the wiper on/off relay control circuit even though it is not attempting to drive the output.

THEORY OF OPERATION
One side of the wiper on/off relay coil is wired to battery, the other side is wired to the BCM. When the BCM wants to turn on the wipers, It grounds its side of the coil. If the BCM is not grounding its side of the coil, the output should be high (voltage supplied by the relay coil). If it is not high, the fault is set because the BCM knows it will be unable to control the wipers.

PROBABLE CAUSES
- Open wiper on/off relay control circuit
- Wiper on/off relay control circuit shorted to ground
- Failed relay
- Failed BCM
