Blend, Mode, Recirc Door/Common Output Short to Battery Code
NAME OF CODEMode Door Output Shorted to Battery
Blend Door Cutout Shorted to Battery
Recirc Door Output Shorted to Battery
Common Output Shorted to Battery
WHEN MONITORED
Whenever the BCM attempts to move one of the HVAC actuators
SET CONDITION
BCM detects one or more of the following outputs shorted to battery: mode drive, blend drive, recirc drive, or common drive
NOTE: All shorted to battery faults will be set when one output is shorted.
THEORY OF OPERATION
When the BCM wants to actuate one of the doors (it only moves one at a time), it sets the door output to the appropriate level and sets the common output and the other two door outputs to the opposite level (ignition or ground). At this time it verifies that the output is doing what it should - if not, the fault is set.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Wiring short to battery
- Failed actuator
- Failed BCM
