"No Bus" Message In Instrument Cluster V. F. Display
MODELS:
1998 (JA) Breeze/Cirrus/Stratus
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
"No Bus" message in instrument cluster vacuum fluorescent display.
DIAGNOSIS:
Connect Scan Tool (DRB III). If DRB III indicates "No Bus" at cluster but can communicate with other modules, remove cluster and look for a hair-line metal sliver between terminal # 4 and # 5 of the blue wiring connector, refer to illustration. If a sliver is present perform the Repair Procedure. If no sliver exists between the two terminals or any other terminals, additional diagnostics is required, refer to the pre-diagnostic test described on page 130 of the 1998 Cirrus/Sebring Convertible/Stratus/Breeze Body Diagnostic Procedures Manual (Publication No. 81-699-97014) or the Instrument Cluster Self Diagnostic Test on page 8E-3 of the 1998 Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze Service Manual (Publication No. 81-699-8121).
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves removing a hair-line metal sliver shorting the blue instrument cluster terminals.
1. Break and remove a hair-line metal sliver shorting the terminals in the blue instrument cluster connector.
2. Install instrument cluster, verify "No Bus" Message is gone.
