Seat Adjuster Rises When The Seat is Unoccupied
MODELS:
1998 (JA) Breeze/Cirrus Stratus
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The drivers seat, equipped with the 4-way height adjuster, may rise to the top of its travel when the seat is unoccupied.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the above-mentioned condition exists, perform the Repair Procedure. The height adjuster clutch assembly is now serviced separately.
PARTS REQUIRED:
1 05012830AA Clutch Assembly, Seat Height Adjuster
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the seat height adjuster clutch assembly.
1. Remove the seat from the vehicle.
2. Adjust the height adjuster to the full up position.
3. Remove the recliner adjustment handle.
4. Remove the height adjuster handle/housing cap with a small flat blade screwdriver (cap is a snap fit to handle/housing).
5. Remove the height adjuster handle/housing.
6. Remove the side shield by removing the trim screws from underneath.
7. Remove the two clutch assembly mounting nuts.
8. Slide the clutch assembly off of the shaft.
9. Install the new clutch assembly, p/n 05012830AA, onto the shaft. Install handle/housing assembly onto clutch and verify handle orientation. Handle should be vertical. If adjustment is necessary after installing clutch assembly, remove clutch/handle/housing from the shaft and firmly grasp the mounting bolts and manually rotate the handle/housing a few degrees in the appropriate direction so the handle points straight up. Reinstall clutch without handle/housing.
10. Install the clutch mounting nuts.
11. Install the side shield.
12. Install the handle/housing and cap.
13. Install the recliner handle.
14. Install the seat into the vehicle, torque the mounting bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs.).
