A. Inspect Rear Crossmember-to-Frame Saddle Spot Welds

1. Raise vehicle on an appropriate hoist.

2. Inspect the left and right rear crossmember-to-frame saddle joints for the presence of all spot welds (18 welds on each side). Each side (left and right) should have six (6) spot welds on the front and rear vertical surfaces and six (6) spot welds on the bottom (Figure 1).

3. ^ If any of the spot weld sets are missing (bottom and/or either front or rear vertical surface), the affected end of the crossmember must be riveted to the frame saddle. Continue with Section B -- Rivet Rear Crossmember-to Frame Saddle.

NOTE:
If a vehicle is missing any spot welds, it will most likely be the six welds on the bottom and six welds on either the front or rear vertical surface of the crossmember.

^ If all 36 spot welds (18 on each side) of the rear crossmember are present, no further action is necessary. Lower the vehicle and return it to the customer.
