Rear Halfshaft Replacement

Fig. 2 Rear Driveshaft Assembly:

1. Remove driveshaft as shown, noting the following:
a. Using suitable tool, remove driveshaft from differential carrier. Ensure differential carrier oil seal is not damaged by driveshaft spline.
2. Reverse to install, noting the following:
a. Using tool Nos. C4171 and MB991380 or equivalents, install oil seal.
b. Ensure differential carrier oil seal is not damaged by driveshaft spline.
c. On models equipped with Limited Slip Differential (LSD) a Viscous coupling Unit (VCU) has a tow part serration, ensure installation on correct side.
d. Driveshaft LH boot band color on ball joint side is white, RH side is blue.
