Rear Wheel Bearing Endplay Check
1. Raise and support vehicle on axle stands.2. Remove rear wheel and tire assembly, then disconnect parking brake cable from rear brake.
3. Remove caliper assembly and brake disc.
4. Position a dial indicator as shown and measure endplay when axle is moved in an axial direction.

5. On Laser, Stealth and 1994 Talon models, if endplay is less than 0.031 inch, endplay is satisfactory.
6. On Laser, Stealth and 1994 Talon models, if endplay exceeds 0.031 inch, remove driveshaft as described under "Driveshaft Replace, then check torque of axle nut as follows:
a. On Laser and 1994 Talon models, 116-159 ft. lbs.
b. On Stealth less turbo, 137 ft. lbs.
c. On Stealth with turbo, 188-217 ft. lbs.
7. On Laser, Stealth and 1994 Talon models, if torque is within specification, replace wheel bearing.
8. On Colt Vista, Summit Wagon and 1995-96 Talon, if endplay is less than 0.002 inch, endplay is satisfactory.
9. On Colt Vista, Summit Wagon and 1995-96 Talon, if endplay exceeds 0.002 inch, replace rear wheel bearing.
