Rear Power Steering System Pump Flow Volume Inspection

1. Disconnect pressure hose from pump and install adapter tool No. MB991217-A, or equivalent, with a suitable hose, then place hose in a container which permits measurement of flow rate (graduated cylinder).
2. Start engine and slowly increase idle speed, then hold an indicated speed of 31 mph, measuring discharge flow volume for 30 seconds. While performing this test, continuously add fluid to reservoir.
3. If discharge flow volume is extremely higher or lower than 1.06 quarts in 30 seconds, replace pump.
