Power Steering Hydraulic Cylinder: Service and Repair

The outer tie rod ends are the only serviceable components on the power cylinder. When installing tie rod ends, adjust length between end of boot and center of tie rod end ball joint to 2.82 inches.
1. Drain power steering system fluid.
2. Remove or lower exhaust system to gain access and or clearance.
3. Remove shock absorber lower mounting bolt.
4. Remove crossmember bracket and mounting nut on differential side.
5. Remove pressure tube rear lefthand side, then O-ring.
6. Remove righthand rear pressure tube and O-ring.
7. Remove oil line clamp bolt (8).
8. Remove tie rod end nut, then power cylinder mounting bolt and power cylinder.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Refill and bleed system. Refer to "Stealth Rear Power Steering System" found in this chapter.
b. Install exhaust system.
c. Inspect four-wheel steering system operation.
