Front Impact Sensor Test

Warning: Before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any airbag system components, unless otherwise noted, you must first disconnect and isolate battery ground cable. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment and possible personal injury.

1. Refer to Air Bag Systems/Service and Repair, to disarm the airbag system before proceeding. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment and possible personal injury.
2. Remove front splash shield extensions, then ensure arrow marks face front of vehicle.
3. Check front upper frame lowers and sensor brackets for deformities or rust.
4. Check connectors and wiring for proper connections.
5. Remove impact sensors.
6. Using suitable volt/ohmmeter measure resistance between terminals. Resistance should be 1,960-2,040 ohms. If not as specified replace sensor.
7. Install sensors, ensuring connectors are properly fastened.
8. Connect battery ground cable, then turn ignition switch on and ensure SRS warning light illuminates for approximately 7 seconds and then stays off for a minimum of 45 seconds.
