Air Bag: Testing and Inspection

Warning: Before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any airbag system components, unless otherwise noted, you must first disconnect and isolate battery ground cable. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment and possible personal injury.


1. Remove airbag module as outlined under "Component Replacement and Repair/Airbag Module."
2. Never attempt to measure the circuit resistance of the airbag module even with a specified tester.
3. Check airbag pad cover for dents cracks or deformities.
4. Check airbag module for denting, cracking or deformities.
5. Check hooks and connectors for damage, terminals for deformities and harness for binds.
