Wastegate Solenoid Valve Test

Wastegate Solenoid Valve Location:

The wastegate solenoid is spring loaded closed when not energized, after start-up the ECM fully grounds the circuit. It is only controlled by the ECM during failure mode.

SOLENOID TEST
1. Mark and disconnect the vacuum hoses from the solenoid valve.
2. Disconnect the electrical harness connector.

Wastegate Solenoid Valve Operational Test Hook-up:

3. Connect a manual vacuum pump to the "A" fitting, as identified by the image.
4. Apply a vacuum while voltage is applied to the solenoid valve. Verify that the valve does not hold vacuum.
5. Remove power from the solenoid valve and verify that the solenoid valve holds vacuum.

Wastegate Solenoid Valve Resistance Test Hook-up:

6. Measure the resistance between the two terminals of the solenoid valve.

STANDARD VALUE 36 - 46 ohm @68°F (20°C)
