Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Testing and Inspection
PCV Valve Location:
1. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the Positive Crankcase Ventilation ([1][2]PCV) valve. Remove the PCV valve from the rocker cover and then reconnect the ventilation hose to the PCV valve.
Testing PCV System:
2. While the engine is at idle, place a finger over the open end of the PCV valve and verify that vacuum is felt. Note that it is possible to feel the internal plunger move when a finger is placed over the end of the valve.
3. If no vacuum is felt clean the [1][2]PCV hose with a suitable solvent and if necessary replace the PCV valve.
4. Check all hoses for proper connections.
5. When re-installing the PCV valve torque to 8-12 Nm (6-8.5 ft-lbs).
