1. Remove piston and rod assembly as outlined under Fig. 61, noting the following:
a. Mark large end of connecting rod with cylinder number.
b. Inspect side clearance between piston ring and ring groove. If side clearance is not as specified replace rings or piston or both. Refer to Engine/Specifications/Mechanical.
2. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Arrange piston rings as shown in Fig. 62.
b. Pistons for SOHC engines are identified for front and rear banks, Fig. 63.
c. Align connecting rod marks made during disassembly when assembling cod on crankshaft.
