Heater Core: Service and Repair

Disable airbag as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING before performing the following operation.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system.

3. Remove floor console as shown.

4. Remove instrument panel as shown.

Fig. 12 Heater Core Assembly:

5. Remove heater core as shown noting the following:
a. On models equipped with A/C, set inside/outside air selection damper to position that permits outside air introduction to prevent evaporator assembly attaching to enter the blower assembly.
6. Reverse procedure to install, enabling airbag as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
