Brake Booster Pushrod-to-Primary Piston Clearance
1. Remove master cylinder from vehicle, as described under Master Cylinder/Service and Repair, proceed as follows:Fig 8 Master Cylinder End Face To Piston Measurement:
a. Measure distance between master cylinder end face and the piston. Position a square (straight scale) against edge of master cylinder, then measure and subtract thickness of the square to determine dimension B.
Fig 9 Brake Booster Mounting Surface To End Face Distance Measurement:
b. Find dimension C by measuring distance between brake booster mounting surface and the end face.
Fig 10 Master Cylinder Mounting Surface To Pushrod End Distance Measurement:
c. Measure distance between master cylinder mounting surface and the pushrod end. Find dimension D by subtracting the square's thickness from the measurement taken.
Fig 11 Brake Booster To Primary Piston Clearance Dimension A:
d. Find brake booster-to-primary piston clearance dimension A, using the formula A = B-C-D. Refer to the Hydraulic System/Specifications for proper clearance specifications.

e. If dimension A is not as specified, adjust brake booster pushrod as shown.
