Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
FAULT IDP0340
TITLE
Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
BACKGROUND
- When the engine is running, the camshaft position sensor outputs a pulse signal.
- The engine control module checks whether the pulse signal is input.
RANGE OF CHECK
- Ignition switch: ON
- Engine speed is approx. 50 RPM's or more.
SET CONDITIONS
Sensor output voltage does not change for 4 seconds (no pulse signal input).
EFFECT
Limp-in
- Injects fuel into the cylinders in the proper order with irregular timing. (After the ignition switch is turned to ON, the No.1 cylinder top dead center is not detected at all.)
- Cuts off the fuel supply 4 seconds after a problem is detected. (After the ignition switch is turned to ON, the No.1 cylinder top dead center is not detected at all.)
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Camshaft position sensor failed.
- Open or shorted camshaft position sensor circuit, or loose connector.
- Engine control module failed.
