Disassembly/Assembly

1. Remove strut assembly from vehicle as outlined under "Strut, Replace".
2. Position strut assembly in a vise.
3. Mark strut assembly lower spring isolator, spring and upper strut mount for indexing.
4. Position spring compressor tool No. C-4838, or equivalent, on strut assembly spring and compress coil spring until all load is removed from upper strut mount assembly.
5. Install strut rod ratchet socket tool No. L-4558, or equivalent, on strut nut.
6. Insert an 8mm Allen wrench into end of strut shaft and remove shaft nut from shaft.
7. Remove upper strut mount assembly from strut shaft.
8. Remove coil spring, plate, spring compressor, dust shield, jounce bumper and lower spring isolator.
9. Inspect all components for signs of abnormal wear or failure, replacing any component as required.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Align marks made during disassembly.
