Moisture In Tail Lamps

MODELS:
1993-1997 (LH) Intrepid

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Moisture accumulated in tail lamp housing(s).

DIAGNOSIS:





Remove effected tail lamp(s). Inspect tail lamp housing for the presence of a "shield" above the side marker lamp socket hole. Inspect side marker lamp socket for damage/deformed plastic or mold flash that would cause socket not to seal to housing. Perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves inspecting the tail lamp housing(s) and side marker lamp socket(s), replacing if necessary, and adding grease to the socket.

1. Trim any mold flash from side marker lamp socket that would interfere with the socket to tail lamp mating surface. If the socket is deformed or damaged or mold flash can not be trimmed replace side marker lamp socket(s), p/n 04400899.

2. If the tail lamp housing does not have an "shield" molded in the plastic above the side marker lamp socket hole replace the housing(s) as necessary.

3. Before assembling the side marker lamp socket to tail lamp housing apply a liberal amount of dielectric grease, Mopar p/n J8126688, to the socket/housing mating surface.

4. Install tail lamp housing(s) on vehicle, verify lamp operation.
