Hazard Warning Flasher: Description and Operation

CIRCUIT OPERATION
Power for the hazard flashers is provided on circuit L9 from the Power Distribution Center (PDC). The L9 circuit is protected by a 20 Amp fuse located in cavity F1 of the PDC. Power for the fuse is supplied on circuit A15 which is a direct feed from the battery positive terminal. Circuit A15 is protected by a fusible link. This circuit is HOT at all times.

Circuit L9 connects from the PDC to the combination flasher. When the operator turns the hazard flashers ON circuits L9 and L32 are connected internal to the switch.

The L32 circuit connects between the combo flasher and the BUS bar that powers circuit L60 and L61 internal to the multi-function switch.

When the hazard flashers are ON the multi-function switch connects circuit L32 to circuits L60 and L61. It also connects circuits L91 and Z1. Circuit Z1 is the ground path for the combination flasher and terminates at the Airbag Control Module (ACM) bracket.

Circuit L60 supplies voltage for the right side lamps and circuit L61 powers the left side lamps. These circuits also splice and supply voltage for the indicator lamps in the instrument cluster.
