Rusty Engine Oil Level Indicator Tube
MODELS:
1994 - 1997 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.3L ENGINE.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The engine oil level indicator tube rusts externally and internally causing the indictor to adhere to interior tube walls. This condition can result in indicator handles breaking off.
DIAGNOSIS:
If there is any indication of rust on oil level indicator or tube, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:

AR(1) 04663601 Indicator, Oil Level
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the oil level indicator tube with a revised part.
1. Open the hood. Remove exhaust manifold heat shield.
NOTE:
CLEAN AREA WHERE THE ENGINE OIL INDICATOR TUBE ENTERS THE ENGINE BLOCK TO PREVENT FOREIGN MATERIAL FROM ENTERING THE ENGINE BLOCK.
2. Remove engine oil level indicator tube mounting screw securing the tube to the engine block. Remove oil level indicator tube by pulling upward with side to side movement.
3. Install the revised engine oil level indictor tube, p/n 04663180, into the engine block using Mopar Gasket Maker, p/n 04318083, and secure with the mounting screw.
NOTE:
THE REVISED ENGINE OIL LEVEL INDICATOR TUBE IS ROUTED SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THAN THE ORIGINAL; IT WILL NOT BE ROUTED THROUGH THE HOLE IN MANIFOLD HEAT SHIELD.
4. Install exhaust manifold heat shield.
5. Install the existing oil level indicator, if no indication of rust; otherwise install new oil level indicator p/n 04663601.
NOTE:
OIL LEVEL READING IS UNAFFECTED BY INDICATOR TUBE CHANGE.
