4 Checking For Intermittent Diagnostic Trouble Codes

1. Perform TEST 3 before proceeding. Inspect the following for pushed out terminals or flared connections: 3 Conditions Needed to Set Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Engine ground connections.
- TCM grounds (pins 53 and 57).
- TCM battery feed pin 56.
- Power feed to Transmission Control Relay.
- TCM Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit pin 11.
2. If the above connections are in good condition, find the applicable intermittent code in the illustrated list. Carefully inspect the indicated terminals for damage.
3. If steps 1 and 2 fail to find a defective condition, use the DRB to erase trouble codes and set the reset counter equal to zero. Road test the vehicle and check for proper transaxle operation.
4. If transaxle operation is still unacceptable, refer to test 7. 7 Checking For Symptoms and Possible Causes Otherwise, if the transaxle function is acceptable, no action is necessary.
