Transaxle Replacement
1. Drain transaxle fluid.2. Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
3. Working from inside front inner fenderwell, remove engine splash shields.
4. Remove vacuum pipe assembly from above battery.
5. Remove battery and battery tray assembly.
6. Remove windshield washer reservoir from vehicle.
7. Disconnect air flow sensor.
8. Remove air duct hose and air cleaner cover from engine.
9. Disconnect pressure line from release cylinder, then plug pressure line.
10. Disconnect ground strap from transaxle.
11. Disconnect back-up light switch electrical connector located above transaxle.
12. Disconnect speedometer cable at transaxle assembly.
13. Raise and support vehicle.
14. Raise and support transaxle assembly with floor jack or equivalent, then remove transaxle mount insulator bolt, mount bracket and mounting stopper.
15. Disconnect front tie rod ends from steering knuckles.
16. Disconnect steering knuckle from lower control arm.

17. Remove right member, then starter assembly.

18. Remove lefthand bearing bracket retaining bolts.
19. Insert a pry bar between bearing bracket and engine block, then pry lefthand driveshaft assembly from transaxle.
20. Remove lefthand driveshaft, hub and inner shaft from vehicle as an assembly.

21. Insert pry bar to protrusion shown to remove righthand driveshaft assembly from transaxle.
22. Remove driveshaft retaining bolts, then midship bearing retaining bolts and driveshaft from vehicle.
23. Support transaxle with transmission jack or equivalent, then remove transaxle assembly lower coupling bolt.
24. Remove transaxle from vehicle.
25. Reverse procedure to install. Torque all bolts to specification.
