Neutral Safety Switch: Description and Operation

Inhibitor Switch Location:

PURPOSE
The Neutral Park Position (Inhibitor) switch, detects whether the transmission is positioned in park or neutral. The ECM monitors the automatic transmission load and operates the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor to maintain optimum idle speed.

LOCATION
Located on the transaxle.
