Ignition Coil Pack Test

Primary Coil Resistance:

PRIMARY
1. Disconnect the coil four-way connector from the wiring harness.
2. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance of the primary circuits. Measure between terminals 2 and 3 for the cylinder 1 and 4 coil, terminal 1 and 3 for the cylinder 2 and 5 coil and terminal 4 and 3 for the cylinder 3 and 6 coil. The standard measured resistance should be 0.67-0.81 ohms.

Secondary Coil Resistance:

SECONDARY
1. Disconnect the coil four-way connector from the wiring harness and remove the spark plug wires from the coil.
2. Using an ohmmeter check the resistance between each coils high output terminals. The standard measured resistance should be 11.3-15.3 k-ohms.
3. If either primary or secondary resistances are not within specifications replace coil. If ignition coil is OK, check power transistor.
