Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit:

OPERATION
The VSS is supplied with 5 volts from the Engine Control Module (ECM). The speed sensor turns on and off (opening and closing the circuit) in proportion to how fast it is turning. The ECM interprets this signal as the vehicle speed.
