4 Speed Automatic
Transaxle and torque converter must be removed as an assembly.1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then the shift control linkage.
2. Support engine with suitable engine lifting equipment, then remove bellhousing upper attaching bolts.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels and left splash shield.
4. Remove wheel hub nut and driveshafts.
5. Remove torque converter dust cover, then mark torque converter and driveplate for reference during reassembly.
6. Remove torque converter mounting bolts, then disconnect electrical connectors at PRNDL and neutral safety switches.
7. Remove front engine mount insulator and bracket.
8. On vehicles with direct ignition system, remove crankshaft position sensor from bellhousing.
9. On all models, disconnect and remove distance sensor, then the starter motor.
10. Position transaxle jack securely under transaxle, then remove left transaxle mount.
11. Lower transaxle assembly from vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
