Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Fig. 6 Passive Belt Control Module (PBCM) Data Link Connector Location:

Passive seat belt diagnostic trouble codes are only active while ignition switch is in the On position. They can be accessed by connecting a DRBII or equivalent scan tool to the passive belt system data link connector. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions for tool operation.

Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Because passive seat belt diagnostic trouble codes are not stored and are only active when the ignition switch is in the On position, they are not retained by the Passive Belt Control Module (PBCM) when the ignition switch is turned to the Off position. Therefore, if the malfunction has been corrected, the diagnostic trouble code will be erased when the switch is cycled to the Off position, but the diagnostic trouble code will reappear if the malfunction still exists.
