Driver Side Airbag Module Replacement

Prior to performing service procedure, disarm air bag system as described under Air Bag System Disarming & Arming at Air Bag Systems/ Service and Repair. Failure to disarm air bag system could result in system deployment and personal injury.

1. Disarm air bag.

2. Remove speed control switches or covers from steering wheel and disconnect wiresm.
3. Remove air bag module mounting bolts.
4. Lift module high enough to remove air bag, clockspring and horn wires, then remove air bag module.
5. If replacing a deployed module, clockspring must also be replaced. Refer to procedure outlined under Clockspring Replacement at Service and Repair.
6. Reverse procedure to install and torque nuts to 90-100 inch lbs.
