Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

The ACM/Air Bag System Diagnostic Module (ASDM) and SRS diagnosis unit (SDU) contain one of the impact sensors which enables system to activate air bag. The ACM/Air Bag Electronic Control Module (AECM) and SRS air bag control unit (SRS-ECU) contain the impact sensors which enables system to activate air bag.

To avoid accidental deployment, never connect ACM/ASDM, ACM/AECM, SDU or SRS-ECU electrically to system unless it is bolted to vehicle.

1. Disarm air bag as described under Air Bag System Disarming & Arming at Air Bag Systems/ Service and Repair.
2. Remove forward and righthand side console bezels.
3. Disconnect ACM wiring, then remove ACM mounting screws and ACM.
4. Reverse procedure to install ensuring arrow points forward and tab is in support bracket, then torque screws to 15-20 inch lbs.
