Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor:




Fuel Pressure Regulator:





WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel system component.

REMOVAL

WARNING: Wrap the fuel lines with a shop towel so that any spilled fuel will be absorbed.

1. Release fuel system pressure. Service and Repair
2. Disconnect negative battery cable and remove vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
3. Loosen and remove fuel return hose at pressure regulator.
4. Remove clamp bolt, (holding the fuel return tube to the intake manifold).
5. Remove attaching bolts (2), and remove regulator from the fuel rail. Discard O-ring.


INSTALLATION

1. #Install new Oring on regulator, and lube new O-ring with clean engine oil.
2. Install regulator onto fuel rail and torque bolts to 90 in-lbs (10 Nm).
3. Install and torque clamp bolt to 95 in-lbs (10 Nm).
4. Connect vacuum hose and fuel return hose. Torque hose clamp to 10 in-lbs (1 Nm).
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Using scan tool [1], activate fuel pump and pressurize system.
7. Check for leaks.
