NOTE: Perform TEST TC-1A, or TC-9A or TC-10A before proceeding.

1. Check for Technical Service Bulletins and manual updates that are related to the symptoms.

- If you suspect any of the items in the menu below to be the cause of the driveability problem, perform the associated test(s) individually.

- If problem still exists, perform NO TROUBLE CODE COMPLETE TEST, in sequence, until the problem is located.

2. If there are no obvious suspects, perform TESTS NTC-2A through NTC-15A, in sequence, until the problem is located.

Checking Secondary Ignition And Timing NTC- 2A
Checking Fuel Pressure NTC- 3A
Checking ECT Calibration and Rad Fan Operation NTC- 4A
Checking Throttle Position Sensor Calibration NTC- 5A
Checking Map Sensor Calibration NTC- 6A
Checking For Oxygen Sensor Switching NTC- 7A
Checking Oxygen Sensor Heating NTC- 8A
Checking Idle Air Control Motor Operation NTC- 9A
Checking Solenoid Operation NTC-10A
Checking Park/neutral Switch (MVLPS) NTC-11A
Checking PCM Power & Ground Circuits NTC-12A
Checking Engine Vacuum NTC-13A
Checking Minimum Idle Air Flow NTC-14A
Checking Engine Mechanical Systems NTC-15A

NOTE: The following tests cannot be used properly unless the driveability problem actually occurs while the vehicle is being tested.

Surge NTC-2A,3A,4A,5A,6A,7A,9A,12A,15A

Lack of Power/Sluggish NTC-2A,3A,4A,5A,6A,7A,9A,12A,14A,15A

Spark Knock/Detonation NTC-2A,3A,4A,5A,6A,7A,9A,10A,12A,15A

Cuts Out/Misses NTC- 2A,3A,7A,10A,12A,14A,15A

Backfire/Popback NTC-2A,3A,6A,7A,12A,14A,15A

Runs Rough/Unstable/Erratic Idle NO TROUBLE CODE COMPLETE TEST above.

Poor Fuel Economy NO TROUBLE CODE COMPLETE TEST above.

3. If you suspect any of the above items to be the cause of the driveability problem, perform the associated test(s). Otherwise perform TESTS NTC-2A through NTC-13A, in sequence until the problem is located.
