Fig. 2 Belt Tension Inspection:
1. Install a suitable belt tension gauge in the middle of belt span.
2. Correct belt tension is 125 lbs. for new belts and 80 lbs. for used belts. [01]
3. Adjust belt tension as follows:

a. Loosen idler pulley lock nut.
b. Adjust tension by tightening jack screw.
c. Adjust new belt to 125 lbs. and used belt to 80 lbs.
d. Torque locking screws, then pivot screw to 40 ft. lbs.
[01] -- A belt which has been installed and run for 15 minutes is considered "used".
