Fuel Injector Replacement

WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel system component.

NOTE: The fuel injector is mounted on top of the throttle body, and is covered by a cap.

REMOVAL
1. Remove air cleaner and release fuel system pressure. Service and Repair
2. Disconnect negative battery cable.

3. Remove the screw holding down the injector cap, and using 2 small screwdrivers, lift the cap off the injector (Fig. 1).

4. Place a small screwdriver in the hole in the front of the electrical connector and gently pry the injector from the throttle body (Fig. 2). Remove O-ring, if it did not come out with injector.

INSTALLATION
1. Replace injector O-rings, (a new injector should already have the upper O-ring installed).

2. Apply a light coat of 30 weight engine oil to the O-rings. Install the injector into throttle body and align the wiring cables with the injector cap fastener hole (Fig. 4).

3. Install the injector cap with the locating notch aligned with the locating lobe on the injector top. Rotate the injector and cap to line up the attachment hole (Fig. 5).
4. Install the fastening screw and torque to 4-5 Nm (35-45 in-lbs)
5. Connect negative battery cable.
6. Using scan tool [1], activate fuel pump and pressurize system.
7. Check for leaks.
8. Install air cleaner assembly
