Verification Test VER-3A - Road Test For Trouble Codes

1. Inspect the vehicle for missing or damaged vacuum lines and/or wires/connections. Repair as necessary.

2. If another previously read fault has not been corrected, return to test TC-1A and follow the repair procedure for that fault.

3. If the PCM has been changed, and the vehicle has a factory theft alarm, start the vehicle at least 20 times to make the alarm system operational.

4. Connect the scan tool to the engine diagnostic connector and erase all fault codes, then disconnect the scan tool.

5. Check for remaining faults:

a. For A/C equipped vehicles turn on the air conditioning and set the blower to low speed.
b. Drive the vehicle for at least five minutes, reaching a speed of 40 MPH at least once. Make sure the transmission shifts through all gears. When completed with the road test, shut off the engine.
c. Start the engine and allow to idle for at least two minutes, then shut off the engine.
d. Connect the scan tool to the engine diagnostic connector, and check for fault codes.

6. If the repaired fault is still present, check for related Technical Service Bulletins and return to test TC-1A, if necessary.

7. If a different fault code is present, return to test TC-1A and follow the repair procedures for that code.

8. If no fault codes are present, the repair is complete.
