Brake Pad & Caliper Inspection
Remove wheels and inspect brake rotor, caliper and linings. The wheel bearings should be inspected at this time and repacked if necessary. Use caution not to contaminate linings with grease or other foreign substances.
If an on-vehicle visual inspection does not adequately determine the condition of the linings, they should be removed and inspected. Brake linings should be replaced if cracked, damaged, or worn as per individual manufacturer limitations. If linings do not require replacement, reinstall in original positions.
Calipers assemblies should be inspected for damage, cracks, fluid leakage through the casting (porosity), or improper operation. Repair or replace as needed.
